Contraindications

- Avoid taking this medicine with foods that are high in calcium or phosphorous, which may make it difficult for your body to absorb zinc gluconate. Foods rich in calcium or phosphorous include milk, cheese, ice cream, dried beans or peas, lentils, nuts, peanut butter, beer, soft drinks, and hot cocoa.

- Zinc gluconate can make some antibiotics less effective. Tell your doctor about all other medicines you use before you start taking zinc gluconate.

- Do not take it with foods rich in fiber and bran. For optimal absorption, take zinc at least 2 hours before or after eating high-fiber foods.

Drug interactions

-       Zinc gluconate can cause a decrease in the absorption of carbamazepine, resulting in a decrease in serum concentration and possibly a decrease in efficacy.

-       Zinc gluconate can cause a decrease in the absorption of Ceftibuten resulting in a decrease in serum concentration and possibly a decrease in efficacy.

-       Zinc gluconate can cause a decrease in the absorption of cephalexin, resulting in a decrease in serum concentration and possibly a decrease in efficacy.

-       Zinc gluconate can cause a decrease in the absorption of ciprofloxacin, delafloxacin, demeclocycline, resulting in a decrease in serum concentration and possibly a decrease in efficacy.

Dosage and usage

 

  • Treating or preventing zinc deficiency
  • It may also be given in adjuvant therapy as a preferred alternative medicine in diarrhoea.
  • An important nutritional supplement for the growth, development and health of body tissues.
  • Zinc is essential for cell growth and division, immune function, enzyme reactions, DNA synthesis and protein production.
  • It may help treat acne, heal wounds and reduce inflammation

ADULTS:

The usual adult dose is 105 mg to 350 mg daily with a meal

children:

Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients under 12 years of age have not been established.

Patients with impaired renal function or liver function:

The effect of zinc gluconate in renal or hepatic impairment has not been studied and caution should be exercised in this case and its serum levels should be monitored.

 

Side Effect

 Some people may experience very bad and sometimes fatal side effects when taking the drug. Tell your doctor or get medical help right away if you have any of the following signs or symptoms that may be related to a very bad side effect:

-       Signs of an allergic reaction, such as a rash. shudder; Red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin with or without wheezing fever. Tightness in the chest or throat. trouble breathing, swallowing, or speaking; Unusual hoarseness or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat.

 -   For the endocrine system, the drug may cause HDL in males.

 - The side effects for the digestive system may be related to the dose and range from: nausea, vomiting, irritation in the mouth, dry mouth, distorted taste, abdominal pain ....

 -  For the nervous system, dizziness or headache rarely occurs.
