Chemical composition

Contraindications

- Hypersensitivity to linezolid or any of the excipients

- Linezolid should not be used in patients who are taking any medicinal product that inhibits monoamine oxidase A or B (eg phenelzine, isocarboxazid, selegiline, moclobemide) or within two weeks of taking any medicinal product.

- Patients with uncontrolled hypertension, pheochromocytoma, cancer, thyrotoxicosis, bipolar depression, schizoaffective disorder, acute disorientation states.

- Patients taking any of the following medicines: serotonin reuptake inhibitors, tricyclic antidepressants, serotonin 5-HT1 receptor agonists (triptans), direct and indirect sympathomimetic agents (including adrenergic bronchodilators, pseudoephedrine, phenylpropanolamine). ) vasopressor agents (eg, adrenaline, norepinephrine), dopaminergic agents (eg dopamine, dobutamine), pethidine or buspirone

Drug interactions

- Monoamine oxidase inhibitors: a reversible, non-selective MAOI inhibitor, concomitant use is not recommended if unmonitored.

- Serotonin reuptake inhibitors: Co-administration is an anticonvulsant that may precipitate serotonin syndrome.

- Pseudoephedrine: Increased blood pressure.

Dosage and usage

 

- Pneumonia .

- Complex infections of the skin and soft tissues.

Dosage:

- The duration of treatment depends on the pathogen, the location and severity of the infection, and the clinical response of the patient.

- The maximum duration of treatment is 28 days.

- Adults: 600 mg twice daily for 10-14 days

- Children: The safety and effectiveness of linezolid has not been established in children under 18 years of age

- Elderly: No dose adjustment is required.

- Renal impairment: No dose adjustment is required.

- Hepatic impairment: No dose adjustment is required. Use of linezolid is recommended only in cases where the potential benefit outweighs the potential risk.
