Contraindications

- Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients

- Patients with asthma, myasthenia gravis, coronary artery disease, hyperthyroidism.

- Patients with allergic reactions to aspirin and NSAIDs

- Preoperative pain, ulcer and kidney pain.

Drug interactions

- Zefinam should not be given with the following medicines due to side effects of varying severity as follows:

- Life-threatening effects: benzydamine, metamizole, oxyphenbutazone.

- Severe effects: pentazocine, potassium chloride, tacrolimus,

- Moderate effects: Paracetamol, caffeine, codeine, pseudoephedrine, dextromethorphan, phenylephrine, atenolol, ipratropium, warfarin, lithium, hydrocortisone, spironolactone.

Dosage and usage

 

- It is classified as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAIDS), used to relieve the pain of dysmenorrhea and other pain.

Reduces inflammation and uterine contractions.

Irritable bowel syndrome.

Diverticulitis, gastric pain and abdominal pain.

- The correct dose of Zefinam depends on the patient's age, sex and medical history:

Irritable bowel syndrome in children from 13-18 years: One tablet of Zefinam (10/250 mg) once every 12 hours for 5 days, and the dose can be increased as needed.

- Irritable bowel syndrome in adults: One tablet (20/500 mg) once daily or one tablet (10/250 mg) twice daily, and increased if needed.

- Elderly: One tablet of Zefinam (10/250 mg) once every 12 hours

 

Side Effect

Digestive system: abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, flatulence, bleeding/perforation, peptic ulcer, heartburn, mouth ulcer, anemia, elevated liver enzymes...

Heart: heart failure, high blood pressure, and tachycardia.

Liver: hepatitis and jaundice.

Blood: Eosinophilia, ecchymosis, decrease in white blood cells, blood in stool and rectal bleeding.

Nervous system: anxiety. Weakness and confusion, depression and distorted dreams, headaches and excessive nervousness..

Respiratory: Asthma and difficulty breathing

Urogenital system: cystitis, painful urination, kidney failure and blood in the urine

Hair loss, itching and increased sweating, changes in weight and blurred vision.
